The 'Lore'

Initially, I took up resin art as a hobby - I wasn’t in a great place mentally and didn’t really enjoy anything anymore. After seeing things people had made online, I was inspired and wanted to try it myself. I began by making gifts for friends and relatives. More and more people became interested in the things I was making - I found this to be a good opportunity to make others happy while doing something I love.

I started my own business (“ErriesEmporium”) at the start of 2021, shortly after I began creating resin art. I sold for a few months. However, as I began to notice the sudden growth of my business, I realised I had thrown myself into the deep end and needed more professionalism and advice. Since i closed my shop, I have be working on organising my finances, creating better products, creating connections and conducting in depth research in order to make my re-opening a success.

Although 'Errie's Emporium' is currently an online shop, I hope to one day expand and have a physical place that people can visit, observe and buy.

About me ₍⸍⸌̣ʷ̣̫⸍̣⸌₎

Name: Errie

Age: 19

My interests are Art, Anime, Video Games, True Crime, Pole Fitness, Reading, Sewing, Resin Art, Ear Making, Cosplay and Cute Things!!

Hi! My name is Errie, I am the creator of 'Erries Emporium'!!

I started 'Erries Emporium' on Etsy in 2021, meanwhile studying 'L3 Games Design' at college and working part-time in a local cafe. After several months of being closed, I have finally made the transition from Etsy to my own website, erriesemporium.com. I now work full time as a compliance administrator, spending any spare hours working on 'Errie's Emporium'. I hope to one day make my small business a full time job.

When I'm not in the office or working on my business, I'll often be playing video games, reading, cosplaying or making up cute outfits.

I grew up playing video games, subsequently, they make up a large part of my personality. My all-time favourite video game is 'Fable III', although, it is an incredibly difficult choice. Recently, I find myself playing a lot of Overwatch 2 due to its recent release.

I love to read. My favourite book is 'Forgotten' by Cat Patrick - it may sound silly but it was the book that made me love reading. I also read a lot of fiction, manga and feminist literature.

Creative Estaury

Towards the end of my college experience, I attended Estuary Ventures workshops in order to gain a greater understanding on running a business and self-employment.

This was a great opportunity for me to broaden my skillset as well as better my business. Some of the topics we covered included finances and budgeting, websites, domains and SSL Certificates, customers, target audiences, etc. Lots and lots of different things.

Creative Estuary offered all the attendees a chance to earn £3000 seed funding for our businesses. I put together a winning proposal conveying my skills and aspirations. I was chosen to be granted the funding as well as being paired with a mentor provided by CMN (Creative Mentor Network).

I attended frequent meetings with both my mentor and the Creative Estuary project assistant. Furthermore, I attended, as well as presenting at, a showcase event to celebrate our progress and aspirations.

Creative Mentor Network

Honestly, my initial thoughts when I first found out I was going to be paired with a mentor were slightly negative - not only would I have to find the time to attend these sessions but I'd also have to meet someone new and hold a decent conversation.

However, the minute I met my mentor, Pei Ling, all the anxiety I was feeling disappeared. Pei Ling was so friendly and supportive throughout the whole experience. My aims for our sessions were to work on my structure, professionalism, and finding a healthy work balance. Pei Ling did all this and more. She showed me that there's more to running a business than that and helped with my communication skills, focus, confidence and overall wellbeing.

Something Pei Ling taught me was her 10 minute rule. This has stuck with me and I use it on a daily basis in all aspects of my life. It has really improved my overall motivation.

Pei Lings 10 Minute Rule

If you feel unmotivated but have things you ‘need’ to do,  try them for 10 minutes. If after 10 minutes has passed you still feel the same way, stop.

I'm so grateful for Pei Ling and everything she has taught me, I wouldn't be where I am without her.
